- Mileage = distance ÷ fuel used
- Consumption = 100 × fuel ÷ distance (litres per 100 km)
- Trip fuel = trip distance ÷ mileage
Mileage is distance divided by fuel. Fill the tank, note the odometer, drive, then fill again and note how many litres went in — that is the only accurate way. The result also converts to litres per 100 km, the unit used outside India, and prices your next trip.

- 1400 km on 25 litres → 16 km per litre.

How do I measure mileage correctly?
Use the tank-to-tank method: fill to the brim, reset the trip meter, and refill to the brim at the same pump.
What is kmpl to litres per 100 km?
Divide 100 by the kmpl figure. 16 kmpl equals 6.25 litres per 100 km.
Why is my mileage lower than the brochure?
Test figures come from ideal lab cycles. Real traffic, load and AC use typically cost 20–30%.
